Studio 2b is a state of the art, all digital
recording studio. Once the signal is inputed to our Panasonic
DA7 console, the signal remains digital all the way to finished product. We
use Sonar 7.02 Producer Edition as our host audio program. With the exception of
high quality mic pre's and, occassionally, input compression/ limiting, we use absolutely no outboard gear. No outboard gear
means no noise and no ADDA generations that degrade the original signal. Of
course, using no outboard gear makes it necessary to use only the finest of
audio plug-ins. We have made a major investment in such plug-ins, which include;
- Universal Audio UAD-1 Powered Plug-ins (2 dsp cards w/
a full compliment of plug-ins)
- Sonitus
- Sonic Foundry
- Antares Auto-Tune
- Izotope Ozone
- Izotope Spectron
- FL Studio Plug-ins
- PSP Vintage Warmer
We have extensive libraries of sampled sounds for our
array of soft-synths and soft samplers. Among others, we use;
- Sample Tank
- Sonic Synth 1 and 2
- V-Sampler (with complete Akai sample set)
- Dimension Pro
- Project 5 V.2
Drums2b...
Our drum room is just that. A drum room. I record using
Yamaha and Gretcsh drumsets. Because the Yamaha's stay set up with mic's set and
positioned, we can record drums with about 1/2 hour notice.
Depending on
the style of music, I choose between five different snare drums.
I also choose from my collection of Sabian, Zildjian,
Zildjian "K", and Paiste cymbals to fit the musical style.
Our drum mic set up includes AKG d12e or AKG d112 (for
bass drum), Sennheiser E604's (toms), the trusty Shure SM 57 (snare), Rode NT1's,
Studio Project C4's, MXL 603s', or Studio Projects C1's (overheads), AKG CE-1 (hihat). I also use Studio
Projects VTB-1 tube pre-amps for the drum overheads.
